Virtual Reality Training Simulator for Field Operators- Case Study
Introduction
VR training simulators can be used in almost any industry to train employees in an immersive virtual environment.
Providing these experiences boost comprehensive skills of trainees that is vital in certain high stress situations and hazardous sites.
VR training simulator helps companies to achieve better efficiency by helping every employee to experience more secure and productive work environment.
Operator training simulator with VR simulation technology provides immersive and seamless experience to field operators.
It helps field operators to observe and respond to operational situation without any harm.
OBJECTIVE
The aim is to develop the VR training simulator software that helps field operators with operating procedures and can be used as basic work procedure for operational safety, control system familiarity and cooperative work.
WORK FLOW
▪︎ The VR training simulator software for field operators consists of two modes.
- Training mode with instructions
2. Exam mode without instructions
▪︎ Simulator software is fed with normal operation scenario and has two views
- Avatar view as seen by instructor
- Trainee view as seen through VR headset
It provides text guidance and visual indications on the progress of steps
▪︎ Navigation layout is fed to the software that guides trainee to any destination such as furnace or pump areas
▪︎ It also helps the trainee to choose required equipment for using in the work environment
▪︎ Field operators can select any required equipment from the option list in the VR app using virtual tablet.
It allows field operators to virtually interact in a specific work scenario.
